Snuggled in the meat packing district of Manhattan lies a little piece of the good 'ol south. As you walk through the doors of The Hog Pit, you'll be taken out of N.Y.C. and into a real southern experience; starting with the country music on the jukebox, the hardwood floors and the scattered cowboy hats, you'll feel compelled to get your fingers dirty with the ribs that are "So good you'll squeal." After you eat, you may not want to leave because of the great bar atmosphere and the pool table in the back.
"You'd think that a place named Hog Pit would be piggybacking on the success of nearby Hogs and Heifers. This country-style joint, however, provides a service to those in a western mood by serving a full menu of barbecue. Adorned with mounted hogs' heads and motorcycle gas tanks, Hog Pit has a raw-wood, honky-stompin' air about it, although the clientele often looks more casual Friday than Easy Rider. Still, they do have the right setup: back room with pool table, pinball machine and country jukebox; and picnic tables on which to shred your ribs, chicken or pork with sauce-faced abandon. Beer and booze is Brooklyn-priced, attitude is minimal, and there's plenty of room to park your hog outside, if you have one."

Johnny Knoxville speaks on the Hog Pit:
"I just don't want one of my favorite bars to be overrun," he said with a snarl and a $100 haircut. "It's classic: first the artists move. Then the yuppies come in. But as soon as your favorite bar gets written up, it's over." He belted back some more Scotch.
